Are unenforced/weakly enforced social taboos in developed democracies counter productive to their aims?

Well, if you are talking about the United States,it is a republic not a democracy.Read the U.S.Constitution thoroughly,please.All men are created equal with rights given to them by God,not the government.The word taboo is hard to define.It is defined by peoples attitudes and morals.I say live and let live! I just do not want other peoples personal moral choices shoved down my throat,nor do I believe gays have a better way of life and deserve more opportunities than the average heteroual! Militant ,snobby gays really aggravate me,sorry.If we were all gay in the beginning,what kind of natural reproduction would have taken place? If you read up on it,ity is a genetic defect that is hereditary.It goes against nature,it is a defect.Yet it is nothing to be ashamed of,but not something to parade around,like a prize.How many gays have died from AIDS in the past 20 years? Find out? Taboos maybe a moral judgment,but if you truly are a moral person you don't judge! What is taboo?You can decide for yourself,it is your opinion.
