How can I improve my auditory skills when learning a foreign language?

I have been learning Swedish for 11 months or so, and I can write/read/speak pretty well, but I am not so great when it comes to hearing/understanding spoken Swedish. I have been watching movies, but will watching these movies with subtitles help my auditory skills, or do I have to watch them without subtitles for it to help? Thanks.
