I'm in love with my best friend. I sent him an anonymous love letter. To avoid him............?

....suspect it's me, I had the letter sent first to Prague,in the Czech Republic, and had one of my friends mail it to Vladimir, Russia, where he's from. I tried talking to him when we were physically near during holidays, but words would not come out. I tried to tell him over the phone, still, I did not find the courage. We communicate a lot, even if we are far from each other. I'm afraid of the consequences of what I did. Now the letter is on it's way. How would you react if you received a letter, a declaration of undying love from an anonymous sender whose penmanship looks familiar. If you suspect somebody, would you confront him or her? What would you do? But I love him and I don't know how else to let him know.
