My xbox is 2.5 years old and has started to freeze. I dont have any red rings yet. WHAT DO I DO?

I tried moving it into a more ventilated area, it wasnt on xbox live when it started happening, i dont have a hard drive attatched to it. Do Microsoft only repair it if it has the red ring of death?
