Is there a safe way to get rid of bedbugs?

I have a 2 month old little girl and I don't want anything to harm her in any way or anything like that. I do know for sure that we have bedbugs. About 5 minutes prior to writting this I caught one and killed it. My wife and I are tired of being bitten, and fortunetly the little one hasn't been bitten at all. Any for sure ways to get rid of them? If I'm going to be spending a good bit of money I only want to do it once!
